INDIIGO is a young black stallion with an intensely inbred, predominantly Egyptian pedigree. Both his parents are by the mostly Egyptian stallion SHAIMAAL, a son of WASEEM ASWAD KAIL. SHAIMAAL is out of DU FA ROUSENA, who is of predominantly Babson Egyptian breeding. She is one of only 27 daughters of her sire, the legendary dressage competitor SERR MAARINER. He is a multi-National Champion, also winning the 1983 U.S.D.F. Horse of the Year award competing against all breeds at Prix St. Georges level. SERR MAARINER is straight Babson.
