Commentary:

Aswad Shahwan BWA is from the very best Show and Performance lines. His pedigree has no lack. Every single original ancestor was imported or bred by the FIRST Asil Arabian’s breeders in Egypt , like Abbas Pasha or Ali Pasha Sherif since 1790. He is a very rare and precious horse inside and outside.

He is a beautiful combination of Babson/Ansata/Pritzlaff/Sirecho bloodlines.

He is a black stallion: he will produce colors, black, bay and only 50 % grey when bred to grey mares. Within his bloodlines, you can find many black and dark bay horses. His coat features rare rabicano [and sabino] markings, the highlight of his royal and exotic heritage.

He is elegant: he represents the Dahman type. Thus his numerous qualities include: his dark coat, his ideal classic type, his excellent conformation, his harmony, his power, his good legs, his very short back and his long and level croup.

His tail female traces back to El Dahma (APS) of the Dahman Shahwan line: an eternal Champions’ producer including horses like *Ansata Bint Bukra, *Ansata Ibn Halima, Anaza El Farid, Ansata Omar Halim, Sid Abouhom, Ansata Sinan,…He is a second generation pure-in-the-strain Dahman Shahwan stallion, and thus very typical of the Dahman Shahwan line.

He is strongly line bred to *Ansata Ibn Halima (Nazeer & Halima), Fabah and Fa-Serr both by *Fadl.

The international Show Champion *Ansata Ibn Halima ++ was a winner at Halter and Performance, including Park, English Pleasure.

He became a multi-National TOP 10 Champion. Out of his 263 gets, 31 are international Champions and 14 are National Champions.

Out of his 50 Sheykh Obeyd get, 12 are international Champions.

Out of his 8015 grand-get, 591 are international winners.

Out of his 283 Sheykh Obeyd grand-gets, 25 are international Champions.

He is the only stallion imported to the U.S.A. who produced both a U.S.A. National Champion Stallion and Mare.

Fabah (* Fadl et * Bint Bint Sabbah): Champion and sire of international Champions.

Fabah is the sire of the National British Champion The Shah, 1966, out of the Straight Babson mare Bint Fada (Fa-Serr X Fada).

Fabah is also the sire of El Ibn Fabah+, 1972-96, bay stallion, Top Ten in Native Costume at the National U.S.A. Championships.

Fabah is also the sire of U.S.A. National Champions’ producers.

The last foals sired by Fabah were born in 1975.

Nowadays, every Straight Babson horse has Fabah and Fa-Serr blood mainly because the Babson Farm followed the winning method consisting of breeding Fabah to the Fa-Serr daughters.

Here is an extract from Joey Feriss article about Fa-Serr: “Fa-Serr sired 75 foals, making him one of the most heavily used stallions in Babson breeding. Fa-Serr’s sons and daughters enjoyed popularity both as individuals and breeding stock, resulting in Fa-Serr’s widespread influence. Looking at the number of second generation offspring, Fa-Serr’s sons and daughters produced approximately 1300 foals. Fa-Serr blood is represented in the disciplines of racing, endurance, halter and performance horses, highlighting the versatility of his descendants. Fa-Serr’s sons were very popular sires. The three most heavily used Straight Babson Egyptian sons of Fa-Serr were Faserouf, Negem and Ibn Fa-Serr.

Negem was used extensively within Al Khamsa bloodlines and sired the 1972 Canadian Reserve National Champion Gelding. Negem daughters were equally prized as show mares and excellent broodmares. The mare Shar Sabbah (& Gammousa) produced the champion stallion Ibn Sabbah Bedu +/, winner of 18 Regional Championships, Reserve Championships and U.S. National TOP 10 Awards in the Dressage and Hunter divisions.

The Fa-Serr son, Ibn Fa-Serr was the senior sire at the Babson Farm until his death in 1986. Out of Fa Deene, full sister to Fa-Serr, he is inbreed to both *Fadl and *Bint Serra I. The majority of Ibn Fa-Serr’s gets are out of Babson mares and have carried on the Babson type. Fa-Serr’s very first foal, Faaris (& *Maaroufa) sired the Al Khamsa stallion El Beshr (&Sirulla), winner of the first approved Arabian race for purebreds in Germany . Faaris also sired Faarad (& Fadba), who was for many years the principal source of Babson breeding in Richard Pritzlaff’s Egyptian Arabian breeding program.

One of Fa-Serr’s most successful sons at the national level was Roufas (& Aaroufa), whose wins included a U.S. National Reserve Championship in English Pleasure and U.S. TOP 10 awards in Park, Formal Driving, Pleasure Driving and English Pleasure. The Fa-Serr daughters made an equally significant contribution to the breed. Highly valued for their production ability, few Fa-Serr daughters were shown.

Bint Aaroufa (& Aaroufa) was named as a 1966 U.S. TOP 10 Park horse, a halter champion and dam of champions. Aarouser (& Aaroufa) was a 1973 Canadian National TOP 10 mare and Serr Ra (& Rasima, also the dam of Faar Ra), took honors as the 1964 U.S. National TOP 10 mare.

As producers, Fa-Serr daughters have exceptional records: Bint Fada (& Fada) produced Al Nahr Montego, a champion and sire of champions who stood at stud in Israel .

Bint Fada is well known as the dam of British National Champion The Shah (& Fabah), a very successful sire in Europe before his untimely death. Serida (& Fay El Aba) produced such champions as Anchor Hill Seranza, Anchor Hill Serfa and Anchor Hill Amida.

Shebaa (& Fay-Sabbah) produced Bay Rod the 1968 U.S. National Champion in Western Pleasure and sire of champions. The full sister to Shebaa, Serrasab, was the dam of Sabrah (& Fabah) who produced the beautiful Fa Halima, 1979 U.S. TOP 10 mare, 1980 U.S. National Champion Mare, Canadian Reserve National Champion Mare and Reserve International Champion mare in Paris .

Another Fa-Serr daughter, Misimma (& Fay-Khedena) is best known as the dam of the beautiful black stallion Fabo (& Fabah).

Fa-Serr’s last foal was Sera Beth, who carried 62.5 percent Fa-Serr blood. She was the grandam of the beautiful Serr Beth (& Ibn Fa-Serr) and Serr Beth’s full brother, Amir Ibn Fa-Serr, a young stallion that stood briefly at the Babson Farm.

Through such horses as Fa-Serr, the Egyptian Arabian has proven its worth. Time after time, Fa-Serr descendants have proven victorious in national competition.”

Aswad Shahwan BWA is a typical Fa-Serr bred horse and shares many characteristics with him. He inherited his look and color mainly through is grandfather Masada El Shahwan and great-grandfather Masada El Fahim (Fabo & Masada Fay Halima).

He is a rare Sheykh Obeyd stallion. Indeed, his bloodlines only trace back to the horses of the very first Egyptian breeders like Abbas Pasha and Ali Pasha Sherif.

Some of the best Sheykh Obeyd individuals are: Nazeer, Ansata Ibn Halima, Ibn Rabdan, Shahloul, El Hilal, Rashad Ibn Nazeer, Hadban Enzahi, Ghazal, Aswan , Mansour, Sheikh El Arab, Ansata Bint Bukra.

He is Straight Egyptian, Al Khamsa, Blue List eligible and Asil.

He is by the black stallion Amir Seralim BWA, the only offspring of the beautiful Ansata/Pritzlaff bred mare SC Salima. SC Salima’s sire, the wonderful Ansata El Alim, is a Class A Champion producer. His offspring are very versatile and have taken part to Halter, Hunter Pleasure, Western Pleasure and Most Classic classes.

Amir Seralim’s other son, Glorys Zaafir BWA, is now used as a jumping pony.

SC Salima’s dam, the pretty Saafara RSI, also produced MA Banyan exported to Canada and BA Sinute, Class A Halter contender, both by TheEgyptianPrince. Her son JM Rafaan by Abenhetep also competed in Class A events at Halter and in Western Pleasure and English Pleasure.

Aswad Shahwan is out of the Masada El Shahwan daughter, Sirenas Ellen BWA. Her half-sister out of Chase The Clouds, Crystal Clouds BWA, was already named Class A Halter Winner. Her son, Khesir BWA by Khe Adhm, is now beginning his head stallion’s career at Brandywine Arabians.

Masada El Shahwan is a very exciting son of the mare SF Khala Zahra, considered by many breeders as the most beautiful Straight Egyptian mare. His sire Masada El Fahim was bred by Walter Schimanski at Masada . He represented, before his early death, the ultimate breeding goal of Walter, with his famous full-sister Masada Bint Fabo: the very best of the Babson bloodlines combined with *Ansata Ibn Halima.

The renown of the Masada bloodlines is huge and Masada El Fahim’s dam, Masada Fay Halima, was eventually exported to the King of Morocco’s stables.

Sirenas Ellen’s dam, FF Sirena, was a precious daughter of ElBateer RSI (Ansata El Salim & *Bint El Bataa) and Silima (*Ansata Ibn Halima & Asal Sirhabba).

ElBateer RSI is a multi-Champion sire. His quality offspring include El Shakar +/, out Razali by Ibn Zaghloul, a multi-champion international in Western Pleasure and Trail, as well as multi-Regional TOP 5, Reserve Champion and Champion in Western Pleasure. ElBateer RSI also produced the Reserve Champions Mahjah Sahfeer in Stock Horse Class and Rackateer at Halter. He even sired Azja Bataa, a class A contender at both Halter and Trail.

Silima is very famous for producing exceptional offspring, including the successful Anchor Hill Halim, exported in Germany .
